Airbus rolls-out fresh safe landing device
Airbus is rolling out a fresh allotment ofcomputer application advised to advance the assurance of aircraft landings.
The ELISE (Exact Landing Arrest Simulation Environment) system, which has been developed by Airbus in affiliation with EADS Innovation Works, eliminates disturbances to an airport’s ground-based Instrument Landing Arrangement (ILS) signal. This can accommodate arrest acquired by altar abreast the runway, including added aircraft and buildings.
The arrangement is said to be decidedly able in low visibility.
“Objects abutting to a aerodrome actualize ‘multipath’ signals by re-routing the electro-magnetic beating emitted by an ILS antenna,” explained Laurent Evain, the ELISE programme’s Technical Manager. “This confuses an abutting aircraft and can advance to aberration from its path, advertisement it to accident of crabbed veer-off. ELISE eliminates that risk.”
The ELISE technology has been offered as an Airbus consulting account back the alpha of 2012, and Vienna airport has already agreed to apparatus it. Advanced discussions are additionally on-going with airports in Bahrain, Malta and Poland.
